Records Safeguard Your Future

The financial aid process is long and can seen daunting when you're looking for money for college. The best way to stay on top of things is to keep photocopies of all forms and applications you receive or fill out. This way you'll always have something to refer back to if there are any questions.

Print out a calendar of all important dates regarding the loan process specific to the year you're applying for. Be sure to keep it in a file with the other documents you photocopy and mark specific dates of importance. Any time your forms are filled out online, print out a copy just in case; don't just save a copy to your computer. By taking such a precaution, you'll still have a hard copy of everything if something happens to your computer. You must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) every year of your college career so having detailed records is very helpful.
