Are there student loans available for international students?

There are very few student aid options available for international students studying in the U.S. Currently, an international student can apply for a student loan but students are required to get a U.S. citizen or permanent resident with good credit to act as co-signer on the note. The international student must also maintain at least a part-time student status at an approved U.S. university.
